Randonnée pédestre
Bisse du Trient
Trient
The Bisse du Trient remains open to the public despite ongoing construction work. However, some sections may be more difficult to access — please proceed with caution.
Located between the Forclaz pass and the Trient glacier, this bisse is easily accessible. Built in 1895, it offers a magnificent, safe and effortless walk in the shade of the larches.
Built at the end of the 18th century, the bisse du Trient is located on the old railway line that used to carry the ice extracted from the Trient glacier to the Col de la Forclaz. This ice was used in the restaurants of the region and exported to Paris.
ITINERARY
The starting point of this hike is the Col de la Forclaz. The path is accessible with a stroller only on the first part of the hike. All along the bisse, you will find didactic and explanatory panels. This is the trail of Charlotte la marmotte on the Trient bisse which extends to the glacier's refreshment bar, at the foot of the Trient glacier.
You can retrace your steps to reach your starting point (approx. 50 min) or make a loop through the village of Trient and then join the path that will take you to the Forclaz pass.
